Fighting for Human Rights through Climate Justice in Poznań

Today is the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. These rights include a dignified life with adequate food, shelter, and security. Sixty years later, millions don't share in these basic rights. The reasons are multitudinous, complex, and intertwined. Oxfam embarked on the climate change campaign because climate change is part of the problem and we can do something about it.

Also today, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Poznań, Poland is underway. Minnesota's own U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar is scheduled to attend. Although preliminary, these talks are important to set the stage for a future international agreement to reduce carbon pollution and fund adaptation projects to help those most affected by climate change to adapt and survive. Check out Oxfam America's press release on the stakes of the Poznań conference and how artists and global leaders are making their voices heard. You can join in by reminding policymakers in Poznań that you are watching their actions by uploading a picture of your eyes to the Oxfam site. It's powerful and fun! Visit the site now.

We'll be learning more about what to expect from developments in Poznań and beyond, and how we can make a difference in the new year at our next meeting: Monday, December 15 at 7:00PM at Common Roots Cafe in Minneapolis. Everyone is welcome! More information about this special meeting will be posted later this week, so stay tuned.
