Two Not-to-be-Missed Events

Soybean Wars
September 25 and 26, 2008

Leticia Galeano is an extraordinary young leader of determination and talent. She is a member of the Movimiento Agrario y Popular (a rural farmworker organization in the deparment of CaaguazĂș, Paraguay) and university student in Asuncion. Lives and livelihoods in Leticia's community are threatened by the expansion of industrial soy agribusiness. Next week in Minneapolis and Northfield, Leticia will speak about this and the social movement she leads. Her speaking tour is made possible by the Student Trade Justice Campaign and their partners. Visit the Student Trade Justice Campaign's website for more information. Don't miss this eye-opening opportunity to meet Leticia at one of these events:

Minnesota Powershift
October 3-5, 2008
Oxfam Action Corps is excited to partner with Minnesota Powershift to participate in their three day conference at Washburn High School (201 West 49th St., Minneapolis). As described on the MN Power Shift website, the nonpartisan educational event is "an inter-generational, participatory conference on climate, energy, sustainable development, and social justice. It will integrate community building and organizing with art, music, creative writing, political action, skills trainings, and open dialogue about the most pressing issues of our time."

Oxfam Action Corps - MN and our friends at the ONE campaign will present workshops on the nexus between climate change, poverty, and the adaptation projects needed to help the world's most vulnerable communities survive. More details are forthcoming.

In the meantime, learn more about MN Powershift and register online today. A nominal $15 registration fee for the entire conference, including three meals and extensive materials, will help offset expenses. We hope to see you there!
