Stand up for REAL reform!

The US House Agriculture Committee turned a blind eye to millions living in poverty abroad last week when passing their 2007 Farm Bill. The legislation sent to the House floor continues the trade-distorting subsidies costing lives and livelihoods abroad at the expense of conservation and small American farms. This unreformed Farm Bill preserves the kind of corporate welfare described in this revealing Washington Post series.

For more details, check out Oxfam America's reaction: "Ag Committee Proposes 'Reform' to Limit Subsidies. . . but Only for the Richest One Tenth of One Percent."

In light of the Ag Committee's (in)action, we must stand up for REAL reform! The whole of the US House, US Senate Ag Committee, and US Senate are yet to vote on the 2007 Farm Bill.
